Jeff City Man Drowns in Meramec River in Crawford County

(Sullivan) A man from Jefferson City drowned in the Meramec River over the weekend in Crawford County.
The Highway Patrol says the incident took place Sunday afternoon on the Meramec River, a mile and a quarter downstream from the Onondaga boat ramp when 24-year-old Alexander Terrell entered the water to attempt to assist another person who was struggling in the water.
Terrell became submerged and drowned.
He was pronounced dead by an area doctor.
