JeffCo Advances in Region 16 Tourney 69-65 Over MAC

(Park Hills) Despite losing to them three times this season the Jefferson College Vikings took the fight to the Mineral Area College women in the Region 16 tournament, beating the Cardinals 69-65 at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse. JeffCo hit the court running as they scored the first nine points of the game….

MAC responded with a 14-4 run to take their only first half lead. The third quarter went back and forth, but JeffCo controlled the 4th going up by nine at the four minute mark. MAC had one rally left and cut it to two with under a minute to play…

JeffCo made free throws enough to win.

MAC coach Briley Palmer had mixed feelings at the end…

Quincy Erickson and Mariah Stewart each scored 18 for MAC. JeffCo was led by Mar Thomas with 15. The MAC women end the year at 9-13. JeffCo moves on to the Region 16 semis Thursday at Three Rivers at 7-16.
