JeffCo women’s hoops has 4 sophomores sign

Jefferson College will be producing more talent in women’s basketball past the junior-college level.

4 Viking sophomores have made commitments to continue playing collegiately.

All-American guard Tyra Brown is moving on to the NCAAs and will play at Coastal Carolina next season.

JeffCo head coach Ashley McGee says Brown has always been a grinder, something she’ll have to continue to do.

Brown averaged better than 23 points per game, one of the top totals in the nation.

Redshirt freshman Augustina Talasimov will also play Division I hoops at Troy University next season.

Talasimov averaged better than 11 points per game in her one season in Hillsboro.

Forward Gemma Ruiz Garcia will be joining the NAIA’s Northwestern Racers in Ohio.

McGee says Ruiz Garcia’s versatility will serve her well going forward.

And guard Chiara De Virgilo will be playing at Keiser University in Florida, another NAIA school.

McGee says De Virgilo can do everything a college guard needs in order to succeed.

All 4 players helped Jefferson College achieve a 14-16 record last season.
