(CRYSTAL CITY) The Jefferson Blue Jays and Scott City Rams survived and advanced to the semifinals of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Boys Basketball Classic tonight on AM 1400 KJFF.

The 2nd-seeded Blue Jays actually cruised to a 75-48 victory over the 7th-seeded St. Louis Patriots behind 25 points from Jon Weik.

Blue Jays head coach Sean Breeze enjoyed watching his offense get up and down the floor all night.

Jefferson advances to the semifinals on Wednesday to face 3-seed Scott City who was taken to overtime by 6-seed Herculaneum, eventually prevailing 64-62. The Herky Blackcats led by 12 at the break when the Scott City Rams tied it up at 56-56 late in the 4th.

In the overtime frame, the Rams had the ball with 19 seconds left when mayhem ensued.

Scott City and Jefferson will square off Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the first of two semifinals on tap. The other semifinal features top seed St. Vincent and 4-seed Saxony Lutheran.

St. Vincent Indians head coach Bruce Valleroy wants to see the balanced scoring carry over from Monday’s win against Grandview.

Saxony Lutheran head coach Justin Callahan got a glimpse of the talent the Indians possess.

Saxony and St. Vincent are expected to tip-off at 6:30. Total coverage of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic semifinals on Wednesday will begin at 4:45 p.m. on AM 1400 KJFF.
