Jefferson baseball looks to chase championships again with new faces

(Festus) The Jefferson Blue Jays made plenty of baseball history last year.

A conference championships and the first district title in school history were just the opening act for a third-place finish in the state in Class 2.

But most of last year’s 18-9 roster is gone.

Jefferson does have 3 returning starters in junior Sam Stokes and seniors Colton Richardson and Jack Heuter.

Blue Jays head coach Robert Kuehnle says their presence is invaluable.

But a dearth of senior stars that are gone means Kuehnle has to introduce us to some new Blue Jays.

They may not have the pedigree of past great Jay teams, but Kuehnle says he’s making sure this bunch knows they’ve got time to get there.

Jefferson is 4-4 in the early part of the 2022 baseball season and will host the Festus Tigers Tuesday.
