Jefferson College and Mineral Area College Face Off in Region 16 Tournament

(JOPLIN, MO) The Jefferson College and Mineral Area College baseball teams are in Joplin, Missouri this week for the Region 16 tournament and will face each other in the first round on Thursday.

The Jeff Co Vikings are the top seed with an overall record of 47-8 and a region record of 28-4. The MAC Cardinals enter the tournament as the 4th seed with an overall record of 31-15 and a region record of 17-15.

Even with the stakes higher now, MAC head coach Blake Jones says that his guys will approach every game the same way.

Since being swept in a 4-game series by Jeff Co back in mid-April, the Cards have won 12 of their last 14. The Vikings have won 29 games in a row and head coach Kevin Moulder attributes that to the completeness of the team.

Jeff Co and MAC square off in the first round of the Region 16 Tournament in Joplin with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show will begin at 6:45 on AM 800 KREI and AM 1400 KJFF.
