Jefferson Completes Historic Baseball Season with 3rd Place Finish

(Ozark) The Jefferson Blue Jays finished off a historic baseball season by winning the Class 3 state third-place game 7-5 over Elsberry Thursday in Ozark on J98. Jefferson jumped out in front courtesy of super senior shortstop Colby Ott.

That was the first blow in a 3-run inning that got the Blue Jays off and running. Dawson Jakoubek started up a 4-run fourth with the Gilster Mary Lee Drive of the Game.

Jakoubek was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and a run batted in. Senior pitcher Dylan Schnitzler gave just 2 hits in 6 2/3 innings. However, Elsberry didn’t go quietly as they threw a brief scare into the Blue Jays in the final frame…

The Blue Jays the secured the final out.  Head coach Robert Kuehnle said his team displayed the resiliency they’ve had all year

The coach also mentions how his senior class had to become leaders,

Jefferson finishes the 2021 season with a record of 18-9, winning 16 of their final 20 games.
