Jefferson County Authorities recover body in the Big River near Byrnes Mill

The death investigation into a body found in the Big River in Jefferson County on Friday continues.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell says the body was discovered in the river in the area of the 4900 block of Byrnes Mill Road just after 5 on Friday evening.

The body is that of a white male and the Sheriff’s office is hopeful to get proper identification from the Medical Examiners office in the coming days.
