Jefferson County back to Red due to increasing Covid cases

(Hillsboro) The continued increase in Covid-19 positive cases has pushed Jefferson County back to Red status in the Covid-19 color guidance indicators. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the top reasons for the increases are a combination of summer holiday travel and the lack of administered vaccinations.

Vollmar the Delta variant is moving along very quickly.

Vollmar says it’s back to the basics for those that are not vaccinated.

On Tuesday, the JCHD reported 84 new cases of Covid-19 in the county. The total number of positive cases stands at 25,024 since March of last year. The active cases sit at 453, and there have been 255 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
