(Jefferson County) After 34 weeks shifting between Orange and Red Status, Jefferson County has dropped into the Yellow status on their color guidance indicators for daily COVID-19 numbers.
Jefferson County Health Department (JCHD) spokesperson Brianne Zwiener says the yellow status is a result of coronaviurs cases continuing to drop in the county.
Zwiener adds they are hopeful this pattern continues with people still following prevention strategies alongside having the COVID-19 vaccine as another mitigation strategy.
In other news with the JCHD, the way how daily COVID-19 cases are updated will be changing.
Zwiener mentions they are transitioning their roles at the health department from case investigation to vaccine distribution being the main priority right now for COVID-19 response.
COVID data will now be collected through the state system, EPITRAX, and will still be updated daily on the JCHD’s COVID dashboard. However, during this transition, the JCHD dashboard will not be updated until March 15th.
In addition to the changes, JCHD will only post social media updates about coronaviurs numbers on Wednesday.
