Jefferson County Council appoints new council member in district 2

(Jefferson County) During its regular monthly meeting Monday night the Jefferson County Council appointed a new Councilperson in District 2.

Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon says the meeting itself went late into the evening; however, it was productive with the council naming a new councilperson.

Gannon adds Gene Barbagallo and his family have a long history in the county.

Barbagallo takes over the seat after it was left vacant when Renee Rueter resigned after she was elected as State Representative in the 112th District.

County council District 2 covers portions of northeastern Jefferson County.
