Jefferson County Council votes to place a park tax on an upcoming ballot

(Hillsboro) In the near future, Jefferson County voters will decide whether they would like to see additional funding for the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Department. On Monday night, the Jefferson County Council passed the first reading of an ordinance to place a measure on an upcoming ballot to residents in unincorporated county for an additional park tax. County Executive Dennis Gannon has more.

Those residents that live in a municipality will not vote on the issue as they pay taxes on their local parks. The ordinance will be voted on again in two weeks and if it passes a second time, it will be placed on the April 2022 election ballot.
