(Hillsboro) The number of new daily Covid-19 positive cases continues to average a little more than one-hundred per day in Jefferson County. However, those numbers are improving week to week. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon says other areas of the region are improving even more, but he stands by his decision to keep businesses open with limited restrictions.

Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the county-wide mask order has been extended until the end of February, and it’s been helping.

Vollmar is hopeful the Health Department will receive a shipment of Covid-19 vaccines by the end of the week. Other agencies such as Mercy Jefferson and even Comtrea have received doses for scheduled vaccinations. Those that are eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine can do so by registering on those agencies’ websites.
