(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Health Department is warning the public that the levels of Covid-19 cases are reaching concerning numbers. A press release submitted by the Health Department yesterday (Wednesday), Director Kelley Vollmar says the increase over the past month is pushing the county to a “red” level.

Vollmar says the “red” level would include recommendations similar, but not quite the same as when things were shut down earlier this year.

Vollmar says Mercy Jefferson is seeing an increase in patients testing positive needing care.

The Jefferson County Health Department has been notified of 34 new positive cases for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the county. This brings the total number of positive cases to 2,891 in Jefferson County. Of those 2,891, 725 are active, with 2,109 recoveries, and 47 deaths. 480 of those positive cases have been at long term care facilities.
