After a four hour long meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Jefferson County Health Department Board opted to table the vote to whether or not to mandate the wearing of face masks while in public.

During the meeting the board heard from concerned residents weighing in on both for and against the mask mandate. One of those concerned citizens was Terry Kreitler of Festus.

Another Jefferson County resident had this to say.

Throughout the duration of the board meeting, board member Suzy Davis was very vocal about her disapproval of the mandate of face masks, often times interrupting health department Director Kelly Vollmar and other board members when they were speaking.

Vollmar eventually shared her frustration with Davis.

While voicing her frustration, Vollmar was able to address the board on her opinions about the mandate of face masks and COVID-19 in the county.

There is no word on when the health department board will resume the conversation and when and if they’ll vote to mandate the wearing of masks in Jefferson County.
