Jefferson County Health Department Making Progress Vaccinating County Residents

(Jefferson County) More than 47,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to Jefferson County residents.

Of that number, the health department has distributed more than 7,300 doses, which includes more than 5,900 first doses and more than 1,400 second doses.

Recently the JCHD entered into a lease agreement with Jones Festus Properties LLC for use of the old Shop N Save building to host future vaccination clinics.

JCHD Director Kelley Vollmar says with this addition they plan to have max vaccination clinics in the coming months.

With the addition of this new site, the JCHD will now have 4 vaccination sites across the county: First Baptist Church in Arnold, First Baptist Church in De Soto, the Festus location at the old Shop N Save, and the Health Department High Ridge office.

The health department is hopeful to administer 3,000-5,000 vaccines per week. So far, 14 percent of the county’s population has received the 1st dose with 7 percent receiving the second.

The JCHD will host a 2nd dose vaccine clinic on Monday and Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Arnold.
