Jefferson County Health Department on CDC’s Week 36 Update

(Jefferson County) Daily coronavirus cases continues to signal red status in Jefferson County.

Spokeswoman Brianne Zwiener with the Jefferson County Health Department provides the latest CDC week 36 update in the county.

In regards to vaccinations, a little more than 35 percent of eligible residents have been fully vaccinated in Jefferson County.

That’s more than 80,000 people. Of the 729 COVID cases reported in week 36, 81 percent of them were unvaccinated.

In other news, the health department reports a bat has tested positive with rabies in Festus.

According to Zwiener this is the second bat that was discovered with rabies in Jefferson County this year.

The first bat was found in late August in the Hillsboro area also by a pet with no human contact.
