Jefferson County hires a new Municipal Prosecutor

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County municipal court has a new prosecuting attorney. The position was vacant for quite some time after James “Ike” Crabtree was let go due to legal issues. The position was filled with temporary prosecutors since 2021. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon says the filling that role will be Jason Emmons of Herculaneum.

Gannon says the municipal court handles many of the lower-level crimes that many would see in a city court.

Jason Emmons is an associate attorney at Roberts Wooten & Zimmer law firm in Hillsboro.

Former Municipal prosecutor, Crabtree, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis in August of last year, to a misdemeanor charge of deprivation of rights under color of law, namely the woman’s right to bodily integrity, and a felony charge of making false statements to the FBI. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison in February and was disbarred by the Missouri Supreme Court in May.
