(Jefferson County) The monument that was made to celebrate Jefferson County’s Bicentennial has officially come in.
The monument’s arrival comes after two years the county celebrated its 200 birthday in 2018.
Bernard Laiben is the President of the Jefferson County Historical Society. He explains why there was a delay in receiving the monument.
Laiben says in due time he would like to organize a celebration ceremony for the stones arrival; however, due to coronaviurs that is not possible at this time.
In other news regarding the historical society, the history museum located in the First United Methodist Church in Festus remains closed until further notice.
The historical society continues to remain active on their social media accounts.
