Jefferson County Man Suffers Serious Injuries

(Jefferson) A man suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Jefferson County Wednesday morning. Jeremiah Smith, 34, was standing in the southbound lane of New Sugar Creek Road when James Hoekstra, 50, travleing southbound, couldn’t stop his car in time before striking Smith with the front of his 2021 Nissan Sentra. Smith was transported to Mercy Hospital South. Hoekstra’s vehicle sustained moderate damage.
