Jefferson County now has 63 cases of coronavirus, 1 death

(HILLSBORO, MO) Jefferson County is reporting 9 new cases of coronavirus pushing the total up to 63.  According to the Jefferson County Health Department, the number of cases of those who are in their 50’s or 60’s is in the double digits.  Only one adolescent case has been reported.  13 of the 19 zip codes currently have at least one case of coronavirus.  (See graphic below)

The rest of the state has now been ordered to stay home. Governor Mike Parson making it official on Friday while Jefferson County has been under a stay at home order since last week… and it will continue to be until further notice.

Local restaurants are still allowed to offer curbside service. Grocery stores remain open but only allowing a limited number of customers at one time.

On Friday, St. Francois County health officials reported the county’s first death due to COVID-19. The health department says the resident was a male in his 70’s and had underlying health conditions. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 31st. The case was not travel related. No names have been released. This news comes only a day after Jefferson County reported its first coronavirus related death.
