Jefferson County sees some growth from Census numbers

(Hillsboro) The 2020 Census numbers have been released and Jefferson County saw a small increase in population over the past ten years. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon was not surprised by the numbers.

Gannon was hoping for a larger increase, but it’s a step in the right direction.

According to the maps, the majority of the increase in population within Jefferson County took place a little south of Arnold in the Imperial and Barnhart region, as well as the Quad Cities of Festus, Herculaneum, and Pevely. There was also positive growth along the northern ends of both the Highway 21 and Highway 30 corridors.
