Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak not in favor of proposed bill to require one license plate

(Hillsboro) The Jefferson County Sheriff is not in favor of Senate Bill 221 sponsored by Curtis Trent of Springfield. The bill would require most vehicles in the state to only have one license plate located on the rear of the vehicle. Sheriff Dave Marshak says with most law enforcement agencies being shorthanded, it would make it more difficult to take advantage of an important piece of law enforcement equipment.

Sheriff Marshak says being able to accurately read a license plate, helps to solve crimes.

The hearing on Senate Bill 221 was held on March 29th, and there has been no further action on the bill since that time.
