(Hillsboro) Stolen vehicle cases remain high in Jefferson County and with the weather turning colder, now is a good time to take more precautions. Many of these vehicles may be left unlocked, or left unlocked while warming up during these colder mornings. Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says there is always the possibility of a vehicle pursuit which is a difficult decision to make.

Sheriff Marshak says during a vehicle pursuit whether it is a stolen vehicle or a suspect fleeing the scene of a crime, the emotions have to be held in check.

While stolen vehicle cases are still higher than normal, compared to years past, they have been decreasing over the last few months.
