(Hillsboro) President Trump signed an executive order Tuesday banning the use of chokeholds by police, except when an officer believes his or her life is in jeopardy, and which also encourages police departments to improve training on the use of force. Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says their policies already ban chokeholds unless absolutely necessary.

Sheriff Marshak says they also have another policy in place in which deputies are needed to step in to stop another deputy from stepping over the line.

President Trump also denounced proposals to defund police departments, saying many departments were underfunded and under-supported.
