Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office command staff changes

(Hillsboro) For the first time in a few years, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has filled the position of Major. Gary Higginbotham was recently promoted from Captain to that open position. Major Higginbotham discussed some of those new responsibilities.

Major Higginbotham says he plans to continue to serve as a Deputy Commander with the St. Louis Area Major Case Squad.

Captain Andy Sides was moved from the administrative role to the law enforcement side, and Brian Taylor was promoted from Lieutenant of the detective bureau to the Captain in administration. Captain Sides says he’s happy to get back to law enforcement end of the position.

Captain Sides says he’s going to hit the ground running.

Captain Taylor says he’s ready to take charge of the Jefferson County Jail.

Lieutenant Nic Forler will replace Captain Taylor as the head of the detective bureau.
