Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office recertifying officers for OC spray

(Hillsboro) Members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are going through re-certification for use of the OC spray or pepper spray. In some cases, new officers may be being certified for the first time. Sheriff Dave Marshak says the training gives the officers a first-hand look at what this tool can do.

Sheriff Marshak says the training also includes how to treat a subject if the OC spray had to be used.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting training or re-training for use of the baton, or “nightstick”.
