Jefferson cuts Crystal City loose in second half on KJFF

Some timely shooting and a few stellar individual performances helped the Jefferson Blue Jays put away the Crystal City Hornets 63-58 Friday night in boys’ basketball on KJFF.

The Blue Jays lead 19-11 at the end of the first quarter behind a fast start for junior forward Colton Richardson.

Richardson finished with a team-high 19 points and was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

But the Hornets would rally from the early deficit.

Crystal City senior Donovan Tullock poured in a game-high 29 points, including 17 in the first half.

But big shots from deep by senior Colby Ott helped Jefferson come out on top.

Ott scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half as the Blue Jays won their sixth straight game against the Hornets.

But Jefferson head coach Sean Breeze said it wasn’t just Ott’s offense that mattered.

Jefferson improves to 11-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Crystal City falls to 8-10 overall and just 1-3 in the JCAA Small-School Division.
