(FESTUS) The Jefferson girls cross country team made the jump from 5th in Class 2 in 2017 to 3rd in 2018, taking home a state plaque for the first time in Blue Jays cross country program history.

Head coach Mollie Rhodes shares her thoughts on this squad being the first ever to do it.

Jefferson had two runners place in the Top 30 with senior Jordan Heacock finishing 11th and senior Anna Heacock coming in 30th. Coach Rhodes starts with them.

The Blue Jays had junior Cheney Ervin finish 38th, freshman Chelsea Badger 48th, junior Josephine Mijrez 120th, freshman Hannah Wigger 138th, and freshman Katie Deevers 144th. Those results for the Jefferson girls came out of 176 state-qualified runners.
