(FESTUS) The first girl’s basketball game of the 2018-19 season on AM 1400 KJFF is Thursday night and features the Seckman Jaguars at the Jefferson Blue Jays. The Lady Jags are 3-1 and have held opponents to 38 points per game.

Head coach Brian Metteer has emphasized defense during practices and so far, not bad.

Jefferson head coach Brandon Joines has the Lady Jays off to a 4-3 start which includes a 3rd place finish in the Valley Caledonia Tournament. Like Seckman, Joines has the girls focused on winning games with the defense.

Coach Metteer has noticed that Jefferson wants to score early in possessions and use players like Heidi Hearst to do so.

Coach Joines has his eyes on Seckman’s Makayla Parton who is averaging 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals per game.

Seckman and Jefferson are scheduled to tip-off at 7 Thursday night on AM 1400 KJFF with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show at 6:45. You can also listen to the game here and on the Tune In and I-Heart Radio apps on your mobile device.
