Jefferson looks for trip to state baseball semis on KJFF

(Benton) The Jefferson Blue Jays are in the middle of the best baseball season in program history.

Now they try to solidify that status when they face Kelly in the Class 3 state quarterfinals Friday on KJFF.

At 16-8, Jefferson has won 14 of the last 17 games to bring home the first district championship in school history, and they walked off to beat Cuba in extra innings in sectionals on Tuesday.

While stars like seniors Dayler Whitener and Colby Ott have shined all year, other players like Colton Richardson, Nolan Roth and Dawson Jakoubek might be playing their best right now.

Blue Jays head coach Robert Kuehnle says he has a team of fighters that can get up from a punch on even their bad days.

The challenge keeping Jefferson from the baseball Final 4 is a Kelly team that has been one of the best in the state.

The Hawks are ranked 4th in Class 3, but they’ve already beaten top-ranked Saxony Lutheran for a district title to get to 21-6.

Jefferson looks to beat the odds and make more history against Kelly in the Class 3 baseball state quarterfinals.

Pregame coverage starts at 4:15 Friday afternoon on AM 1400 KJFF.
