(FESTUS) Memories of a lifetime were created last season by the Jefferson R-7 boys basketball team as the Blue Jays were district champs for the first time in school history.

Now in their 2nd year under Sean Breeze, the Blue Jays are looking to repeat. They’ll have to do it though without now Culver-Stockton freshman Easton Null, who is the all-time leading scorer and three-point maker in Jefferson program history.

Instead, they’ll have to do it with seniors Jon Weik, Levi Ebersoldt, Haydn Wagner and Brandon Perry. Coach Breeze likes what he has with that group, especially Weik.

Coach Breeze has a positive take on Ebersoldt and his leadership as well.

Coach Breeze adds that speed will play a major factor in the success of this year’s team.

The Jefferson Blue Jays will open the season by participating in the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic at Crystal City High School beginning December 2nd. The Blue Jays are the 2-seed and will play on Tuesday at 5 against the St. Louis Patriots.
