Jefferson R-7 Supt. Says Legislators Need to Focus on School Safety

(FESTUS) Law enforcement officials in Nashville continue to investigate Monday’s shooting at a school that left three children and three staff members dead. The suspected shooter, identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, was fatally shot by officers who responded to the scene at The Covenant School. Locally, Jefferson R-7 School Superintendent Clint Johnson says the R-7 district is very attentive to security measures and policies at the district buildings. Johnson says intruder drills are frequently practiced. He adds, security plans are continuously adjusted and improved.
Johnson believes legislators throughout the 50 states and in Washington need to really focus on the issue of school shootings.
Johnson adds the R-7 district works closely with their school resource officers and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department regarding campus security.
