(FESTUS) While the Jefferson R-7 School District is adding varsity boys and girls golf as well as archery to its list of athletic programs next year, so are changes being made to the girl’s volleyball and girl’s basketball teams.

Tara Fish, who took over Blue Jays volleyball in 2018 for head coach Ashleigh Nagel after her heart attack last summer, led the team to 30 wins and a runner-up finish in Class 2 District 3. With Nagel’s decision to resign as head coach and slide into a volunteer assistant position, Jefferson Athletic Director Jason Dreyer says that Fish will remain the head coach.

As for girls basketball, Brandon Joines is stepping down as head coach and moving west.

Under Joines, the Jefferson girls basketball team went 47-51 with a Jefferson County Small Schools Conference Championship in 2015. The search for a new girls basketball coach at R-7 is underway.
