Jefferson shuts out St. Pius to take first place in conference on KJFF

(Festus) The Jefferson Blue Jays made it clear that they are a championship contender with a 10-0 victory over the St. Pius Lancers Thursday on KJFF.

The Blue Jays jumped out in front early on.

Jefferson pushed the lead to 3-0 after three, and senior superstar Colby Ott would help double that advantage in the fourth.

Ott added to a perfect day at the plate and put the game away in the fifth with the Gilster Mary Lee Drive of the Game.

Ott finished with 3 totals hits, 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in.

After being intentionally walked his first time up, the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was not throwing away his chance to swing the stick.

Jefferson wins for the ninth time in the last 11 games.

Blue Jays head coach Robert Kuehnle said his team is starting to live up to the championship standard that the program has set over the last few years.

While St. Pius falls to 8-8, Jefferson moves to 11-7 overall and is 4-0 in conference play.

With a win over St. Vincent Saturday, the Blue Jays will win the JCAA Small-School Division title. To hear the full game broadcast again, click play below.
