Jefferson softball looking for next step in 2020

(Festus) The Jefferson Blue Jays are looking to make a leap as the 2020 season begins.

Jefferson won 12 games last year and reached the Class 2 District 2 semifinals, but they came up just short of some hardware.

Head coach Robert Kuehnle says he has confidence in this year’s squad because of their attitude.

All-time hits leader Abi Chips has graduated, but the Blue Jays have another all-state talent in catcher Catryn Cattoor back in the lineup, fresh off a junior season where she hit .646 and blasted 5 home runs.

Kuehnle says Cattoor is a true 5-tool player.

But Kuehnle says, along with Maggie Brunke, Sydney Stewart, Brittany Bittick and Megan Payne, Cattoor possesses one important trait: team chemistry.

Jefferson opens the 2020 season at home against Fredericktown on August 31st.
