(FESTUS) The Jefferson softball Blue Jays are gearing up for the Class 2 District 2 tournament which begins on Wednesday where the Jays are the 3-seed. They will either be 11-9 or 10-10 entering the tournament as they have one regular season game left and it’s at home against Valley Park on Monday at 4:30.

Two of the best hitters in the area are on the Blue Jays in senior Abi Chipps and junior Catryn Cattoor. Chipps has a .696 batting average with 36 stolen bases and 42 runs scored. Cattoor has 5 home runs with 32 RBI’s and a .661 batting average.

Head Coach Robert Kuenhle says that they’ve been a great pleasure to watch all year.

As far as the pitching goes, freshman Morgan Figliolo has been his most consistent arm and really likes the way she competes in the circle every day.

Coach Kuehnle believes his girls are in the right mindset as they get ready for districts.

The St. Pius Lancers are in the Class 2 District 2 tournament as well and they are the 2-seed. A win for the Blue Jays over first-round opponent Saxony Lutheran would set up a regular season district rematch with the Lancers. Jefferson lost to West County in the first round of districts last season.
