Jefferson Tops #9 St. Vincent On J98

(Jefferson County) The St. Vincent Indians had a chance to win the I-55 Conference Championship outright, but the Jefferson Blue Jays had other plans. Blue Jays quarterback Kole Williams tossed three touchdown passes and scored another on the ground to lead his team to a 46 to 28 win over St. Vincent in the J98 Game of the Week.

Williams began the scoring on an 18 yard run early in the first quarter….

A St. Vincent fumble gave the Blue Jays the ball back and running back Sean Usery scored from just over 20 yards out…

Indians quarterback Christian Schaaf scored on a 1 yard run in an attempt to get his team back in the game…

Jefferson scored two more times thanks to a Kole Williams pass to Gavin Theodoro and a 15 yard Sam Stokes run to lead 25 to 7 at halftime. St. Vincent took the first possession of the second half and wasted no time scoring…a less then two minute drive resulted in a scoring run for Drake Robinson…

However, Jefferson answered as Kole Williams hit Nate Breeze with a short pass…

From there, the Blue Jays and Indians traded two more scores each, and Jefferson ran out the clock to upset the state ranked St. Vincent Indians. Jefferson Coach Matt Atley says it was huge win for his guys.

Jefferson improves to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the I-55 Conference, while St. Vincent falls to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Indians will now share the conference title with St. Pius.
