Jefferson walks off first state baseball win on KJFF

(Cuba) The Jefferson Blue Jays have a glorious feeling, and they’re singing and dancing in the rain.

Even despite inclement weather, Jefferson was able to edge out the Cuba Wildcats 4-3 in extra innings Tuesday during the Class 3 state baseball sectionals on KJFF.

Jefferson would need a comeback, as Cuba was first take a lead.

But the Blue Jays would strike in a big fourth inning to even the score.

The game stayed all square at 3 until the bottom of the ninth, when Daylen Whitener lead off the inning with an infield single, and Dawson Jakoubek provided the Serenity Hospice Care Play of the Game.

Jefferson wins its 14th of the last 17 games to improve to 16-8 this season.

Blue Jays head coach Robert Kuehnle says his team just found a way.

Fresh off winning their first-ever state playoff game, Jefferson now moves on to the Class 3 quarterfinals.

The Blue Jays will head to Benton Thursday afternoon to take on Kelly. You’ll be able to hear that game starting at 4:30 on AM 1400 KJFF.
