Jefferson’s Kuehnle named baseball Dream Team Coach of the Year

(Festus) Robert Kuehnle of the Jefferson Blue Jays is the 2021 Regional Radio Dream Team Baseball Coach of the Year.

Kuehnle lead Jefferson to its first-ever district championship on the diamond, then took things a step further by guiding the Blue Jays all the way to a third-place finish in the state in Class 3.

But Kuehnle is still humbled by the recognition from his coaching peers.

A senior-laden squad won a second straight JCAA Small-School Division title this year for Jefferson in an 18-9 campaign.

Kuehnle says it’s one of the most discipline clubs he’s ever coached.

And Kuehnle is quick to share the glory with the rest of his coaching staff.

Jefferson’s third-place finish at state in baseball ties the 2016 Blue Jay softball team for best state finish by a team sport in school history.
