(Festus) A star on the baseball diamond for Jefferson High School will be looking to do the same for Jefferson College.

Bluejays senior Colby Ott announced his commitment to play for JeffCo Thursday night.

He says familiarity with new Vikings head coach Zac Bone from their time together with Festus 253 Baseball was definitely a plus.

Ott already looked like a complete offensive player as a sophomore at R-7.

He hit a team-best .459 in 2019, along with 2 home runs, 26 runs scored, 25 RBI and 17 stolen bases.

Ott says his time with the Bluejays has made him the player he is.

Perhaps the biggest reason Ott chose JeffCo is a environment he says reminds him of why he loves playing at R-7 and with 253 Baseball.

Like the Jefferson Bluejays, Jefferson College had its 2020 season canceled due to the pandemic.

The Vikings did win a school-record 47 games under coach Kevin Moulder in 2019.
