Jefferson’s Ott finishes storied career with another Dream Team nod

(Festus) Colby Ott is leaving the Jefferson Blue Jays as one of the most decorated athletes in school history.

An all-state talent in 3 different sports, it’s the one he loves the most where he earns his final accolade, making the Regional Radio Dream Team in baseball.

Ott was named a first-team all-state infielder after helping the Blue Jays have their best-ever season on the diamond.

Jefferson won its first district championship in baseball and finished third in the state in Class 3.

But Ott is aware he had to beat out some great players to earn more individual honors.

Ott finished his senior season with a .487 batting average, 14 total extra-base hits, 3 home runs, 35 runs batted in, 29 runs scored and 22 stolen bases.

Ott believes he got better in every area by continuing to raise his baseball I.Q. throughout his career.

Ott also made the Dream Team in football, where he was twice named all-state and helped Jefferson reach the Class 2 state semifinals in 2020.

He says those teammates he played with are a big reason he will stay close to home when he attends and plays baseball at Jefferson College.

Ott was named the JCAA Small-School Division Player of the Year for baseball in 2021.
