Kinworthy’s no-no leads Windsor over Festus on KJFF

(Imperial) A stellar individual pitching performance guided the Windsor Owls to a 3-1 victory over the Festus Tigers Monday on KJFF.

Owls senior Gavin Kinworthy threw a complete-game no-hitter to knock off the Tigers, pairing swing-and-miss stuff with his infield’s great defense.

Kinworthy did yield the game’s first run, as a batter he hit with a pitch scored for Festus in the third.

But Windsor tied the game up in the fourth, and they made that inning a big one with the Gilster Mary Lee Driver of the Game.

Truman Ward would finish 3-for-3, and his 2-run single would be enough to get Kinworthy a moment he’ll never forget.

Kinworhty struck out 9, walked no one and only allowed 2 base runners by hitting them with a pitch.

He says he couldn’t have drawn it up any better.

Kinworthy also had 3 hits at the plate.

But his head coach Randy Green admitted he didn’t know the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was making a piece of history.

Windsor wins its fourth of the last 5 games to improve to 7-4 along with winning their first conference game.

Festus falls to 6-7 and 1-1 in the JCAA Large-School Division.
