Kyle Genenbacher Signs with Norte Dame Soccer

(Farmington) Farmington High School graduate and defender for St. Louis FC Academy Kyle Genenbacher signed his national letter of intent to play Division 1 soccer for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Genenbacher joins a top 5 ranked recruiting class in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer.com and says that it has been a long journey to get to Notre Dame.

For most colleges, high school soccer isn’t enough for recruitment. Men’s soccer is a sport where club teams are incredibly influential. Instead of playing for his high school, Genenbacher played for St. Louis FC Academy, where he received a great opportunity to succeed.

Genenbacher is looking forward to the structure that comes with playing at the college level and also receiving a great education.

Only 1.1% of high schoolers make it to the Division 1 level in soccer. For Genenbacher, he was willing to sacrifice a lot to achieve his dreams of being a college athlete.

Genenbacher is the 15th ranked defender in the nation and the 60th ranked player in the IMG Academy class of 2021 rankings. Notre Dame went 8-9 last season, but Genenbacher says that the team this year has a good chance of making it far. The NCAA Soccer Season starts in September.
