Burkett, Bresnahan and Cozad were all arrested by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with Donald “Rick” Gaston, a citizen of Washington County who also faces similar charges.

The arrests stem from an alleged scheme back in February where the Sheriff Burkett and the two deputies allegedly attempted to help Gaston kidnap his daughter from the mother of his child.

Sheriff Burkett will have another bond reduction hearing and a motion hearing on Tuesday as will deputy Bresnahan.

Deputy Cozad will also have a bond reduction hearing and a motion hearing on Tuesday in Potosi.
