Lauren Politte And Lucy Pace Win Singles Sectional Matches, Heading To State Next Weekend

(Potosi) The North County tennis team will be represented at the state tournament again. Senior Lauren Politte and Junior Lucy Pace won their singles sectional matches on Saturday.

Politte faced Windsor’s number one player Mia Steighorst and won in two sets: 6-1, 6-0.

North County coach Courtney Stufflebean says Politte started strong.

Politte and Pace have experience at the state tournament. Politte and her sister, Hanna, defeated Pace and Kate Jones in the doubles state championship last year.

Stufflebean says the two have been helping each other excel in singles throughout this season.

Pace went against Lutheran South’s Emma Peper and also won in tow sets: 6-0, 6-2. Stufflebean says they had a game plan that worked out well.

Stufflebean tells us what the next steps are.

Politte and Pace could be joined by the rest of their team at the state tournament.

North County faces Lutheran South in the team portion of sectionals Monday morning at 10 o’clock. If the Raiders win, the quarterfinal matchup will be Monday afternoon at 12:30 against either Kennett or Bishop Dubourg.

Team Sectionals are being played at Westminster Christian Academy.
