Legal things to remember concerning recreational marijuana

(Jefferson County) Recreational marijuana is now legal in the state of Missouri as that was made official last week. Crystal City Attorney Scott Harness says there are still guidelines to follow in terms of rules and regulations for the public.

Harness says people are not allowed to smoke it where ever they want to.

Harness says the public cannot just grow as many marijuana plants as they wish there are limitations on how many plants you can own.

A consumer personal cultivation identification card must be applied for, shall be valid for 12 months from its date of issuance, and shall be renewable with the submittal of a renewal application.

Several area municipalities are asking voters to pass an additional sales tax on the sale of recreational marijuana. Those living in the cities of Festus, Herculaneum, Hillsboro, and Pevely will see the ballot measure on the April election ballot.
