LEGION TOURNEY DAY 3 POST

(Ste. Genevieve) A wild extra-innings game and a dominant pitching performance highlighted the action Wednesday at the American Legion District 13 tournament on Regional Radio. In the first matchup, Rock Memorial won 5-4 over DeSoto SMCI in a thrilling elimination game. Rock was on the verge of losing a pitcher’s duel when they rallied with one out left in their season.

Rock Memorial would score twice more when trailing in extra innings to tie the game up, eventually winning in the 11th inning on a base hit by Nolan Estopare. Rock improves to 16-11 while Desoto’s season ends with a record of 13-12. Game two of our doubleheader was between the top two seeds in Festus Post 253 and Ste. Gen Post 150. Ste. Gen left the top of the first with a one run lead but that’s the only run they put on the scoreboard because 253’s Hunter Bassin was dealing on the mound.

Festus won the game 9-1 and improved their record to 20-6. Bassin finished the night with a complete game and ten strikeouts while only giving up two hits. Post 150 falls to 18-7 on the season.

While Festus now waits to see who their opponent will be in the finals Friday, Rock Memorial will face the Mineral Area Raiders Thursday in an elimination game on AM 800 KREI and AM 1400 KJFF. The winner will face Ste. Genevieve later Thursday evening for the other spot in the finals. Coverage starts at 4:45 on Regional Radio.
