The Lesterville Bearcats boys basketball team is building for the future. On paper, they only have two wins, but the team is focused on rebuilding the program the right way. The bearcats are coached by Jason McMurray, who is in his first season leading the team. He’s prioritized using basketball as a tool to prepare his players for life.
In a season like this one, the work might not show up in the form of wins. McMurray shares how his team is being patient with the process despite their record so far.
The losses should not define this team, as there are several bright spots. Freshman Carter St. Gemme has become a reliable shooter, freshman Jarel Jackson has become a good defender, and the ever explosive Isaiah Twomey is a spark plug off the bench. The Bearcats have been building chemistry off the court, and McMurray says that developing team unity is a high priority.
The Bearcats next game is Thursday evening against Ellington.
