(IRONTON) – Wednesday night on J-98 marked the semi-final round of the 91st Annual Arcadia Valley Thanksgiving Tournament. In the first semi-final, the fifth-seeded Lesterville Bearcats upset the top-seeded West County Bulldogs 66-59. The Bearcats used some hot shooting to build an early big lead.

Lesterville head coach Lee Richardson says he’s glad to get a signature win.

In the second semi-final, the third-seeded South Iron Panthers knocked off the two-seed and tournament host Arcadia Valley Tigers 53-48. The Panthers were just able to hold off the Tigers on their last possession.

Freshman point guard Brock Wakefield proved to be the strongest player on the floor for South Iron. Head coach Dusty Dinkins says he certainly doesn’t play like a freshman.

The tournament now moves to its final day Thursday as West County and Arcadia Valley will square off in the third place game, followed by the championship between Lesterville and South Iron. You can hear coverage of both contests on J-98 with pregame starting at 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening.
